As a performance group, our year consists of a busy schedule of pipe band competitions, parades, and other events.
In March, the band can be seen in several St. Patrick's Day parades in and around NJ and NY.
In late May or early June are Memorial Day Parades, and around July 4th are Independence Day parades. The band has also performed at Halloween, Christmas, Veteran's Day, and Columbus Day parades, and other similar events, such as the Easter Uprising Commemoration March in Newark.
In April or May, the band generally takes part in its first competition of the season, usually at the Fair Hill Highland Gathering, or the Southern Maryland Celtic Festival, both in Maryland.
At the peak of the competition season, in August, is the North American Championships, held at Maxville, Ontario, Canada. Here the best of the continent come to see how great a sound can be produced by a pipe band.
And when times are right, the band makes the journey to partake in the immense and glorious World Pipe Band Competition, invariably in Scotland in August.
October marks the end of the normal competition season. Often the band dance is at this time, where awards are given, family and friends are gathered with us, and good times are had by all.
By the winter holiday time, there is usually a brief well-deserved and much enjoyed break time. But before long, the band regroups and gets ready for another year of music.
Here is a listing of all the functions that involve the band.
